Number 3 - Aviation
Safety - Read More About It
Lots of people ask me if
there are books on the topic of aviation safety, discussing what needs
to be done to insure the safety of airplanes and their passengers, and
all those they fly over. There are several books that help the
layperson understand the many aspects of aviation safety. I recommend
the following:
Flying
Blind, Flying Safe, by Mary Schiavo. Hardback published in
1997 by Avon Books (Hearst), ISBN: 0-380-97532-7. Paperback updates
hardback and was published in 1998 by Avon, ISBN: 0-380-79330-X. Both
available at major bookstores and libraries.
In the
Unlikely Event..., by the Center for Public Integrity,
Washington, D.C. Paperback published in 1998, ISBN: 1882583-10-8.
Available for purchase from the Center at 1634 I Street, NW, Suite
902, Washington DC 20006, Tel. 220-783-3900.
Collision
Course, by Ralph Nader and Wesley Smith. Originally published
in hardback in 1994, ISBN: 0-8306-4271-4(h), but available now in
paperback at bookstores. Also in libraries everywhere.
Blind Trust, by John
J. Nance. Well over a decade old, and one you will probably have to
get at the library, not the bookstores. You will see not much has
changed.
